Diamond prices soar globally
The price of small rough diamonds for rings has increased by nearly 20% since the beginning of March. The increase is the result of US sanctions against Russian mining company Alrosa which accounts for a third of global diamond production. Without Alrosa’s participating in the market, diamond cutters, polishers and traders are all having difficulty sourcing gems.
