The term "Chiborg" is a Japanese word, a combination of "China" and "cyborg", referring to an overly perfect and "unreal" Chinese beauty that looks like a robot.

 In the eyes of Japanese girls, "Chiborg" make-up often uses bright colors, reminiscent of classical Chinese scriptures, focusing on eyes and lips to create a sharp and fine look.  While Japanese-style makeup has always revolved around cuteness and innocence, Chinese-style makeup Chiborg gives a more elegant, cold, and mature look.

 "Chiborg" started attracting the attention of young Japanese women around 2019, when news about Chinese-style makeup spread abundantly on Twitter and Instagram.  This Chiborg style became even more widespread after many videos of Chinese makeup tutorials were posted on YouTube.

 Emilin, a Japanese girl who shares fashion information on her personal YouTube page, has posted a video about "Chiborg" and has more than 2 million views as of January 2021.  Another blogger named "Shikanoma" explained the unique charm of "Chiborg".  This person thinks that Chinese-style makeup Chiborg shows one's inner strength and confidence and gives a fresh feeling.

According to blogger "Shikanoma", the concept of "stylish woman" is gaining popularity in Japan today and she also has a desire to become a woman with a strong will.

 According to Yoshinai Takada, a sales manager of the chain stores selling all kinds of cute and delicate souvenirs, very popular in Japan - Loft, the style "Chiborg" and Chinese cosmetics  became even more trendy during the Covid-19 pandemic as people tended to spend more time at home, with some young girls learning makeup on social media.

 Ms. Yoshinai Takada said that Chinese cosmetics have bright colors and creativity that Japanese and Korean cosmetics do not have, and gorgeous packaging is also a highlight, attracting buyers on social networks.  This Chiborg trend is also being supported amid the context that people spend more time searching for beauty information at home during the epidemic.

 According to Yueko Nishihara, research planner at the Japanese cosmetics and makeup portal @cosme, today Japanese women tend to emphasize the emotional value of cosmetics, such as "I'm very happy to  have it "," It's a pleasure to use "or" The soul is healed by scent ".

 Ms. Yueko Nishihara added that this Chiborg trend is even more pronounced as the Covid-19 pandemic is still complicated in the country and people do not want to go out, and the attractiveness of Chinese cosmetics is meeting this demand.  

 Furthermore, Saya Hayashi, CEO of Functional Cosmetic Laboratory Co., Ltd.  Ltd. (Japan) said that Chinese cosmetics are gradually getting rid of the prejudice about cheap and poor quality products.  Ms. Saya Hayashi said that a few years ago, Chinese cosmetics were mainly aimed at middle and low-income groups, but over the past year or two, cosmetics with high prices and quality have been improved, and has attracted office women and high-income customers ".
